London - Bomber Arsenal, Robin Van Persie continues to show the appearance of good. England football legend, Alan Shearer believes that Van Persie will be able to pass a record tally.
The record in question is the number one scorer throughout the year. Currently, the record still belongs to Shearer with 36 goals he made in 1995 while still defending Blackburn Rovers.
Meanwhile, Van Persie scored a goal against Everton at the weekend was the 19th goal in all competitions, or who to-33 so far this year. That number brought him to the third list, under another Arsenal legend Thierry Henry with 34 goals and only three goals adrift just from record Shearer.
Van Persie the chance to break the record it was wide open. In addition to the consistency of his performance, Van Persie still have four games before closing in 2011.
"He (Van Persie) will beat my total of 36 goals in the Premier League in one calendar year - a record, I did not realize this before mentioned to me in the Match of the Day this weekend," Shearer wrote in his column in The Sun.
"I set records that in 1995, when defending Blackbrun. But that record will be broken and I do not think there is a better striker than the Dutch man to write his name in history books," continued the former England captain is.
"He has answered many questions in the last 12 months with 33 goals in 32 Premier League appearances - and not just team's main striker but also the captain of Arsenal. Now he has the last four games this year to get that record - a visit to Manchester City and Aston Villa and home games against Wolves and QPR. "
Arsenal have not gotten a commitment from Van Persie immediately following the period of his contract runs out. Shearer warned the Gunners goal machine in order not to lose it.
"It does not respect his team colleagues and I in that football is a team game but he has won many matches and securing so many numbers, it's hard to believe the season the Gunners can turn around very dramatically without him," added Shearer.
